We do our best to keep everything on Compare.com.au accurate and up to date. Here's how we source our data, what we do to verify it, and how you can help us stay on track.
Getting the details right matters
Insurance comparison only works if the information is correct. We take data accuracy seriously because we know people rely on our content to make informed decisions about their cover.
That said, insurance products change frequently. Insurers update their pricing, adjust policy terms, add new features, and discontinue old ones. Despite our best efforts, there may be times when our information is slightly out of date or contains an error.
When that happens, we want to know about it. Every correction helps us improve the site for everyone.
A mix of public sources, official documentation, and customer feedback
We regularly review official insurer websites for product details, policy documents, pricing tools, and feature lists. This includes sites like AAMI, Allianz, NRMA, and others.
Customer ratings are aggregated from platforms like Google Reviews, Feefo, and Trustpilot. We weight ratings by review volume to avoid small-sample distortion.
We cross-reference information with government and industry bodies including the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC), the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).
We reference trusted editorial and comparison sources such as Canstar, CHOICE, Finder, and MoneySmart to validate our findings.
Where we quote specific figures - such as pricing estimates, review counts, or ratings - we include the date the data was last verified and note the source directly on the page.
The types of information we actively check and maintain
We aim to review each page at least quarterly, with more frequent updates for fast-changing information like ratings and pricing. Each page shows when it was last reviewed.
We genuinely appreciate corrections - they make the site better for everyone
